Tomorrow 22 August 2016 it will be exactly 10 years since I took delivery of a brand new Gen 3 Pajero GLX, the best car I have ever owned. It might not be he fastest car on the road, nor the most economical or having the best handling but it has given our family 210 000 km without any problems whatsoever.
During that time we discovered almost every inch of the Southern African continent traveling roads, quasi-roads and areas that cannot be defined as roads. We have witnessed countless sunsets, sat around many campfires and experienced nature like few others. Our Pajero took us everywhere that we wanted to go without ever missing a beat.
Sure, the OME suspension, ARB compressor, the Frontrunner roof rack and accessories and the fat BFG's all played their part. In the end though it was the Pajero's quality of engineering and design and the way things were put together that provided the basis for our almost unbelievable experiences. The vehicle's engine and gearbox combination must surely be one of the best ever to come from the motoring industry. It is just bullet-proof.
I put the Pajero in 4H when I sat in it for the very first time in the Mitsubishi showroom. It has never been driven in 2H and we never had any problems as a result of that.
Earlier today the family celebrated the first 10 years and toasted the next 10. We are looking forward to the rest of the 600 000 km that we intend sharing with our Pajero.
And to think that we landed up buying the Pajero purely because Toyota thought that the original 65 litre fuel tank of the Fortuner was sufficient for over landing expeditions. How lucky can one be?
One of the best posts on this forum ever. Thanks for sharing

Thanks for that. I am always happy when other people are happy.
Met a bloke this weekend at the Pilansberg. Shorty Gen 3 DiD ........... 400 000 still looked new. By my skewed maths, you have another 9 years 9 months to go
