Hi guys and Gals
This is my first post on this site as I am new to owning a Pajero and so far its been.... umm interesting.
I have a issue with my 2001 3.2 DiD SWB idling, wonder if any of you may have come across this issue before.
So here goes.
Vehicle purchased with blown Diesel Pump, Pump replaced with re-conditioned pump car starts and idles at 900 and drives like a dream.
Now this is where the issue is, if i take the rpm up to say 1500 (actually any rpm) and release the throttle the RPM does not drop back to idle it stays at the RPM I have accelerated to. if I load the engine with the clutch to drop the RPM the rpm then stays at the "loaded" rpm. If I turn the vehicle off and back on it idles at 900 RPM with no issues.
Any ideas?
I think it could be one of the solenoids controlling the throttle however they appear to be operational.
Regards
Paul

I think so, but I have checked the vac lines and they appear to be okay.
I also took it to a guy that plugged the diagnostics machine on the vehicle and said there are no errors reported on the system.

Throttle on those vehicles are fly by wire. To me it sounds like a faulty throttle position sensor TPS ? When it was plugged in to the fault code thing. What did it say the throttle position was in relation to where your foot was on the throttle?

Hi thanks for the reply. The guy said the throttle was set to 850 (something or other) and he adjusted it to 650.
Sorry for being so vague but that's all I know.
I checked the actuator on top of the throttle body does not move then I press the accelerator. it does hold vacuum if I manually manipulate it. make me think the solenoids below the battery are not being powered. Do any of you know where the relay is for those solenoids is located?
Thanks

Hi guys
A quick update, I have changed the APS and both speed sensors on the Diesel pump... no difference.
I have spoken to Mitsubishi and they too do not know what the issue is.
I have noticed that if I put the aircon on then the RPM drops. Really odd.
Running out of ideas here.
