Hello Gentlemen
please i need some advise regarding an oil leak on my 2001 3.2 DiD. if the vehicle is on a ramp and we are standing underneath the engine looking to the back of the vehicle, the leak is coming from the right side of the engine.
It cannot be the oil pressure switch as this is on the left side by the filter i have read! What could be causing this leak? has anyone else had an oil leak from this side of the engine?
any help would be appreciated
thanks
regards

Check the engine crank seals and make sure it is not oil blowing back.

You need to look at the front of the engine to see if there are any trails leading from the front to the sides. check if the front bottom of the engine has any residue that has run down from the crank seals and then been blown back along the block as opposed to dripping.

I agree with stranger. You need to find out exactly where the leak is coming from even if it means removing some components to inspect. Something simple like a tappet cover leak (cheap & simple) may appear like a serious rear main oil seal leak (expensive and involved) simply by leaking and running down the particular spot.

Thanks for the responses guys
I think i will have to leave it with the dealers and let them strip as much as they can to locate the leak. but they are already talking about engine removal, I don't know how when they do not even know where the leak is coming from??
thanks

What about getting some else to take a look at least ? Most decent indies will not charge to look and advise.
These days we have fancy cameras that do not require dismantling / removal of engines
