So there is this knocking sound..........

Hi Guys,
My "new" Demo Pajero 2015 10 500km on the clock has me worried. Now that I have had it for just over a month I am beginning to know all the sounds that one likes to hear or not hear. But one that concerns me is a knocking sound on start up, which disappears when the engine has warmed up. Then she purrs.
This is the 5th 3.2 engined Mitsubishi I have owned. First one was a pre common rail built into my Colt 2.8 (still miss it), 3 x Pajero Sports and now the 140 kw Pajero. Not one of the others have this sound, only diesel clatter when cold.
I do know what a bearing failure sounds like, and that knock gets worse as the engine warms. And a loose tappet makes a "tapping" sound.
Any ideas? I am worried.
