Hi Forum Members
I really hope you can help me.
I have a SWB Blister Pajero with the 3500 24 Valve Petrol motor.
The intake manifold was very packed with soot (from the exhaust gas recirculation?), so I removed it and cleaned it. At the same time replaced spark plugs and fitted a new fuel pump.
The vehicle has 170 000 km.
When bolting everything together again, I switched the cable loom for the plugs around - I think...
As I tried to start it backfired a bit but no start.
I then changed the wires to the spark plugs the right way round, but it will still not start. Just cranks.
I pulled out a plug, and yes, it sparks.
Disconnected the fuel pipe, fuel is pumping.
Put a generic Diagnostic on it, all seems fine.
I am at my wits end - any ideas what causes the vehicle not to fire?
Regards
Ingo
Look on the forum for the firing order, and check against what you have in place. Best place to start.
Hi Members
4 weeks later, and unfortunately not much help from the Mitsubishi dealers - apart from trying to sell my very expensive parts with a 6 weeks delivery time - the problem was the Petrol Micro Filter inside the High Pressure Pump.
Filter removed - all problems solved, the Pajero running like clockwork.
As expected, Mitsubishi SA/Imperial told me they do not sell this filter - the offered a complete new high pressure pump at about R 40 000-00 - very nice
Any idea where I can get this miniature filter?
Overseas it is about Euro 9-00.
Cheers
PS: It seems that most dealers and Independents are scared of the GDI motor????
