Hi All - I'm very new to this forum and also judging by some of the posts I'm really in the amateur league when it comes to my mechanical or technical knowledge - so please excuse me if I fail to explain the technical details correctly.
Vehicle in question : Mitsubishi Pajero 3.2 DID 2000 model 4m41 motor with approximately 300000km on the clock
I am really hoping some of you gurus have first hand knowledge and will be able to assist me with my drama. I have a 2000 Mitsubishi Pajero 3.2 DiD . Approximately 3 weeks back I drove about 60 km to the airport on arriving there the started to feel like it was not firing on all cylinders and the oil pressure light came on. Following night I had the vehicle towed to my mechanic - found out the water pump had gone and had over heated the engine - this resulted in head requiring skimming ,which was done , also replaced gaskets and honed 2 cylinders whilst engine was open . other than that all appeared fine. Put engine together , started car and it ran fine (actually sounded better than before) however when the car reached operating temp and we switched it off it would not start again . The engine swung over perfectly and a fair amount of grey smoke came out the exhaust indicating it was getting sufficient diesel . left the vehicle for 10 minutes swung the key and car started first time . Took the car for a drive approximately 10 km and whilst waiting at the robot it cut out , again swung the engine sounded fine , fair amount of grey smoke but would not start , then ran started it and it started first time. Drove back to workshop , switched car off started it started first time . switched it off wouldn't start again. Somebody said it could be the temperature sensor or the engine speed sensor (not the one by the wheel) - I would appreciate any help I can get - Thanks again
