Hi All

Three weeks ago I purchased a 1999 24 valve 3,5L swb for R55000. It has 292,000km on the clock. Had the aircon fixed and some rust spots etc. Rear diff and cruise control do not work. The vehicle was hesitating and I took it in to a very good local mechanic. He replaced spark plugs and cables and did a compression test. The vehicle seems fine now to me but he said three of the cylinders have bad compression and that I will have to replace all the valves (R16000) within a few thousand km's.

Please help..... Is it worth doing or should I sell or try to get the old owner to take back as my mechanic says that they should have seen this when they did previous work on the head gasket. I do not know much about vehicles and realise I have purchased an old vehicle and I really would love to get it fixed properly and use it to go on holidays that require 4X4.

Any advice from any experts would be greatly appreciated. I love it so far and think this vehicle suits me and it is my daily driving vehicle as well as I do not want to finance another vehicle. Thank you.
