Dear All.
I am new to the forum. My name is Hugen Nash. My vehicle is a Pajero lwb 3.5 v6 petrol 6G74 engine 245k on the clock.
My car is at the workshop for lifter and valve stem seal replacement and and and many more.
I am born in the old Forrrd and Chev era which was very easy to pin point a defect. Unfortunately I am not a mechanic and especially not the likes of Mitsubishi.

My problem is my son vehicle. I bought him a 2001 Colt club cab v6 petrol with 160k on the clock. The Colt is now on 170k.
His lifter also start to moan/tap.
I suggest to him that we try the delo 400 15 W40.
We also change the oil filter to a GUD.
After the oil replacement my son used degreaser to clean the engine and wash off with fresh water whilst engine is still running.
After this procedure the lifters is now more louder and the main problem is. The car just run for a few kilometers and switch off ( specially on slow driving in traffic)
We will sit in the car for a few minutes and attempt to start again. After start up we cover a few kilometres again and same story.

I checked for any spark from the coil/distributor and plug wires. That research I did at night cause it's the only way I know.

Cleaned the air filter.
Clean the area of the exhaust intake.
Clean the stepper motor.
I used a product called clean tonic, a lot of gunk was cleared out of those areas.

I booked the Colt in with another workshop cause.
Cause the workshop that works on my Paj are fully booked.
My concern is just not to run the same road with the Colt as with my Pajero. You start paying for parts that should never have been replaced and after a lot of funds down the drain the vehicle is still not what you paid for.

If anyone can give me advise on what the cause might be PLEASE.
Maybe the Delo to thick?
Water somewhere in the electrical components?
I would appreciate everyone's input.
Thanking you in advance.
Regards.
Hugen

Once again thank you.
We had water damage to the electrical components.
Use a blow dryer and dry out all the electrical parts on top of the engine.

All good now the Colt is in good spirit again.
