3.2 Pajero Injector pump timing

Gentlemen,
I know this is a topic that has been covered 100s of times. what i want to know is when inserting the pump and aligning the notch on the timing gear with that on the plate and then pushing the pump inside, the workshop manual just says the notch on the gear will move downward.
Question is by how match has the notch got to move ? one or two teeth?
I am redoing timing on paj and i dont seem to getting it right.
