Intercooler flush
Hello Mense,
My first post on the dedicated board. Thanks for going to the trouble, Simon. Good to see people around who know what they're doing again.., ;)

So, on to the question. I replaced the fuel filter on my Colt (4M40) and decided to flush the intercooler while it is off. 4e, I know you advocated the use of petrol for this. Is it OK to leave the temperature switch in, or should I take it out before flushing? I've never seen one and I'm concerned that the solvent (petrol in this case) might damage it.

Cheers
Dirk
Re: Intercooler flush
It would be a good idea to rather remove it, if it just screws in.

Make sure you wash it with plain soap and then rinse with water before re-fitting.
Remove and wash the pipes which you can reach at the same time.
I leave it in the sun for as long as possible to dry out properly.

You don't want petrol in the intercooler when you fit it! ;)

Re: Intercooler flush
Thanks. Eventually it was pretty easy. It is going to take a bit longer to get rid of the smell of petrol in the garage. :)
