Apparently my car has been chipped by the previous owner -- where can I check to see which one it is?

You can see under the dashboard , infront of you passenger seat there will be a chip,mounted,Dastek.or one of those.

OK, so I see a small black box that says Denso and a larger blue box saying Mitsubishi. Not chipped then?
