Options for decat - 3.2 PS

I'm looking at doing a decat on my 2011 PS 3.2 with 185000 on it.
Went to chat to the guys at Cowley exhausts in Montague Gardens, and they reckon they can either fabricate a new section of pipe (R2500), or remove the cat, knock out the insides, and fit it back (R1500). Is it worth dropping the extra R1k, or will cleaning out the cat work nearly or just as well?

Should do the same. Just make 100% sure there wont be fault codes popping up on your model after removal. If there is a chance of fault codes it might be worth it to keep the old cat and get the pipe made up as you have the option to then go back to original should there be an issue. If they smash the old cat out and put it back you would need to make another possibly more expensive plan.

Also be aware that you will have a bit more turbo whistle coming through and the exhaust will give off a more diesel fume smell.

If the cat is blocked decatting it will ease removal of exhaust gas.
Some say the turbo will spin faster and easier thus produce power faster but I am not sure.
It definately make the turbo and exhaust noise more prevalent and also alow more pungent diesel exhaust gas to come out the back if removed.
On some 3.2 models you get error codes as the sensors pick up that cat is gone.

I had the cat cleaned out by Powerflow exhausts.
No issues with funny smells or warning lights at all.
The only real difference I can hear is that the turbo is a bit more audible, but its not an unpleasant sound
As for actual performance, I'm sure that there is some difference, as you are reducing backpressure on the exhaust system, but I haven't really been able to feel much difference.
