MITSU GDI Engines -- some questions

Greetings All ,
There is a slight possibility I might become the new owner of a "throw-out-cooked" GDI engine. ( from the looks of it nothing too seriously wrong )
I appreciate that these engines were not that common in SA and getting parts will be a pain -- and expensive.
That it is better and easier to import an engine via the Japan Engine importers ( advice for owner of vehicle with cooked engine )
However the engine I hope to acquire will form part of an idea for a "project" -- so as they say "an engine in hand is better than none at all"
I think that every Mitsu follower should at least once in their lives own a GDI ...

Seen In that light I am now looking for a proper detailed Mitsubishi strip and recondition manual for this engine
As well as any suggestions / assistance from anyone who owns and uses these engines or has had occasion to strip and rebuild one.

I have not been able to find much info on these engines -- how many different variations -- SOHC / DOHC -- engine displacement etc etc

I am keen to acquire any and as much info on these engines.

Please feel free to post away ... :)

I was chatting to Arnold from Mitsitech the other day and he mentioned that those GDI engines do not like high altitude like we get in Gauteng. I am unsure where you live but if I were you I would check it out and do some proper research.

It has something to do with the high compression ratio or something, I can’t quite recall the exact reason but he says those engines constantly give trouble up on the reef.
