2008 Pajero SWB 3.8 V6 for sale 78,000kms

Wed Aug 07, 2019 10:40 am

Hi guys,

Im selling my 2008 Pajero SWB 3.8 V6.
The reason Im selling is because I'm retiring the end of the year and moving to the coast.
Unfortunately i have too many vehicles to take with me.

It has 78,000kms on the clock, with a full service history.
Its in immaculate condition , never been in an accident.
I changed the cam-belt +- 100km back, just because it was older than 10 years (the one I replaced was still perfectly fine)

I would like to sell it for R190,000 neg

Please let me know if anyone is interested, or would like more information.

kind regards

Piet Spies

Although the mileage is very very low, I do believe that the price is a bit high compared to market value. It’s an 11 year old vehicle so not many banks will finance it. Also, it’s a petrol with heavy consumption.

Perhaps you need to consider dropping the price in order to get it sold?

I quickly had a look at Pajeros on Autotrader in an attempt to benchmark the R180k. I was amazed at how huge the price difference can be between two similar models. My conclusion is that R180k for this beautiful car is a very fair price. But, fuel price and consumption considerations do have the potential to drive the price even further down.

Before getting my 2007 LWB 3.2 in June I scoured the web for at least 2months ( April/May 2019) and I noticed quite a difference between Diesel and Petrol Pajeros. The 3.8 l were quite cheaper, all other parameters being equal. It must be said that I mainly looked at dealer sales because of my trade-in and Consumer Protection issues.
I also found that in many cases (Diesel and Petrol) the SWB was cheaper than the LWB , but not by much.
Private prices s were in many cases higher than dealer prices but this depends to a great degree on the overall condition of the car as well and I found also that many private sales included some additional extras (expensive rims and tyres, rock sliders, bull bars and Led lights etc etc) and judging by the photos the vehicles were in pristine condition.
I thought a many times to go for the 3.8 l (lower price and relatively low mileage) but the Diesel won because of my towing an off-road trailer and planned excursions into "harsher" territory but short of Rock climbing and van Zyl's pass !!
In the end everyone must decide by him/herself ......and I think if you come across a meticiously maintained Pajero and it is more expensive than it should be,,,,,let your heart decide and not your brains.....
