I have to fit new boots but have tried Mitsubishi dealers, scrap yards and other appropriate firms in and around Joburg ---without any success .
I learned that the boots are handed (LH + RH)...
Anybody has an idea where to get them without waiting 6 weeks ????

I bought boots from midas twice. R140 for 2. They only last 2 years but the Mitsubishi ones are R1100 each.

Thanks for the tip Mantovani
I got hold of the LH one from Mitsubishi for R 640,- plus Vat. The Rh one still eludes me so I will try MIDAS on Monday. I rather change them every two years than to drive without....
As a matter of interest, are the Midas ones all the same length and each end is stepped a few times so that it can be cut at the applicable diameter/length for different vehicles ???

Had the steering rack boots from MIDAS fitted and they fit 100%....... No problem there....Let us see about their "endurance".
Thanks again for the advice.

They fit on both ends of the steering rack to prevent entrance of dust/dirt into the rack mechanism (particularely very important for driving gravel roads).
A new steering rack will set you back at least R 15-20 Grand but I don"t know what a re-conditioned one costs.
