Pajero Accumulator Repair or Replace

Hi all
Mitsubishi want R4750 for a new one long cylinder one, not the round black ball unit. But they have to order from Japan.
I was told by brake specialists here in Durban, that they can repair them.
Firstly - is this possible? I thought they were sealed units. (They estimate the repair to be around R700.) Labour to remove and install will be the same for new or repaired unit.
Second, if it is possible, is it worth taking the risk of it failing again, or worse causing damage to the rest of the brake system?
Advice would be greatly appreciated.
