6G74 (1996) - Head problems and engine cutting

Hi there,

I am new to this forum and kindly ask for some assistance. There is no proper Pajero mechanic around here (Botswana), and we are trying to fix my engine.
200,000km, 6G74, 3500 V6 engine, 1996 import SWB model, regular oil changed.
Problem started when pulling away one day, engine all of a sudden cut out, turned key, cranked, but felt like it had no compression. We took the heads off, there were a few hydraulic lifters skew we thought some were worn, had also a few valves bent. We re-did the heads, new valves, guides, lifers, gaskets, and put back, oil light went off immediately, so oil supply did not seem a problem. Test ride, a few kilometers later, engine cut out again..??
Now there may be a problem with the oil supply to the head which we will look at after taking the engine out, but what makes the engine cut like this?, is is an electrical cut-off somewhere to ignition, or to injectors?
