2015 Pajero LWB 3.2 GLS Fuel Consumption
HI Guys,

Finally glad to announce that I have joined the Pajero Family :D , I got my Pajero 4 days ago, I already did a long distance trip and my average fuel consumption was around 11-12l/100km, driving to work and back was about 12.3-13l/100km, I drive calmly with no excessive acceleration and keeping the revs below 2500RPM, I have read about the EGR blanking, decatting and some even suggest using a K&N Filters instead of the OEM Filter(Along with this some people say it allows for dust to enter the engine). What suggestions, tips or tricks can some of you recommend for me regarding better fuel consumption.

Other that driving with an egg under your foot, that's not too bad. Try driving the 3.8 around town and it makes yours look rather good. Anything from 16 to 22 liters/100 kms. But that V6, creamy smooth and all that grunt. WICKED.

Sounds about right. I have a 2012 GLX Legend edition and I can maintain a similar fuel efficiency when I do the school run between Muizenberg and Fish Hoek in Cape Town with it. I find that keeping your RPM to ~2000 is the best for fuel economy. Unless you're in a rush, you should be able to hit 120km/h at 2000 rpm. On some longer trips our fuel efficiency can dip below 9l/100km when sticking 2000RPM or less, the motor has more than enough torque to make up for the low revs.

I have a Gen4 LWB DiD with almost 300k on the clock. Engine is now just run in nicely! :D On a recent trip up to Gauteng and back, I was pushing an average 10,2l/100km. At one stage I got it down to 9,4, but went up as soon as I hit the Cape mountains. I find that my most economical speed is 115Km/h.

My baby has 70 profile tyres, where it should be 65's, so that could also influence the consumption. I have already de-catted her and I will be blocking off the EGR soon. My advice, while it is great having the cruise control, it cannot predict the impending uphill, so don't rely on it unless you have a relatively flat journey. Strangely, I also found that my consumption was slightly better in Gauteng than on the coast, but that could also be because I stay in a small town - not long distances to drive.

You could also take it to one of the many people who will remap it for you - MitsuTech will point you in the right direction if you're not in Gauteng.

Thanks for everyone's input, I think I will follow the road of decatting and EGR Blank but I will first do more research on remapping before I follow that route

Maybe people have a idea of what fuel consumption is. Just because its a diesel, doesn't make it economical. For the same logic with the petrol. I have had 10.5 liters/100 km going to the coast and 13/14 liters/100 km coming back. I just prefer petrol, that and not having to use it as a daily driver helps, minimum of 140 liters a week driven on a daily basis. Not good. But drive it as its supposed to be driven, not too bad. As I said its my weekend toy. Fuel consumption ?. I have owned both the Kawasaki 500 and 750 triples in my misspent yoof. Try approx. 17 liters gone in about 70 kms. it wasn't air cooled but petrol cooled. The folly of being young and stupid. What a time to have been alive, times that will never be appreciated by today's nanny states worldwide.
