If you have to replace your 2.8 (4m40) with another engine, what would it be?

No, the 3.2 is financially not viable.

We have two Gen1's in Paarl using Nissan 2.7 motors and both the guys are very happy with it.

I know it's not the answer to your question but is the option of rebuilding the 4m40 not available to you?

The 3.2. More power, less consumption, fits the engine mounts and transmission.

If you go this route, make sure that you get the the full wiring loom with ecu, transponder and key barrel. It will make it a lot easier as I am yet to hear of stand alone management for the DiD - I suppose why tamper with something that's perfect

I see imported motors have dropped in price. From +- R22k a year ago to under R15k now. Same cost as having the head replaced

Hi everyone,
Here is a new member from Botswana and I am desperately looking for an address where I can find an affordable 4M40 engine.
Local second hand engines are so expensive that I'm better of bringing the body to a car breaker.
I've found one company in Jo'burg that has it for R 13.000. Is this the going rate in South Africa?
Thanks, best regards,
Erik

Eric,
Welcome. Sorry, it seems your post was missed.
R13 000 for an engine?
Sounds too good to be true. You may want to check it out.
Let's see what the guys who have "been there" w.r.t. replacing engines have to say...
