Turbo upgrade on 4m41

Hi guys, looking for some advice. I have the gen 2.5 blister fender 2.8td and am looking to upgrade my current turbo. Is it even a good idea to do so, and what do I upgrade with? Im clueless when it comes to turbo's, so I'll need to know where to buy from and what to buy if possible. My current turbo lets quite a bit of oil into the intercooler system and to be honest, doesn't feel like it does much anyway...
