I'm desperately looking for a brake booster for Gen 2 1999 GDI Pajero V6 3.5L LWB.
It's the E- V45W GYUC1 chassis model and 6G74 engine model.
The original part number is MR475509 (54107A on parts diagram).
It's a vacuum brake booster and it seems to be losing vacuum after sitting for a few days or driving without braking for 30 minutes or so (can only drive around town). The braking isn't affected but when you start it up it, it suddenly gets emphysima and starting flashing warning lights and dies when you put it into Drive.
My local Mitsubishi here can't help as they can't plug it into a diagnostic tool as it's a Japanese model (Snow Athlete).
I took it to another mechanic who actually knows how to troubleshoot without plugging the car into a diagnostic and he picked up what was actually causing the problem.
I'm struggling to find the part locally as they can't read the VIN number (although it's easy to pick up overseas), so I tried looking overseas and most of the sites either won't ship to South Africa or the cost is ridiculous because of our exchange rate.
I'm looking for a secondhand brake booster. It's isn't the master cylinder that's the issue, it's just the brake booster.
If anyone can give me details of who I can contact to try and find one locally, I'd greatly appreciate it.
This issue (along with some sensor issues) showed up after hitting some unexpected potholes on a tar road driving back from the Eastern Cape after the holidays. I think gravel roads and off-roading is actually safer than driving on tar roads these days.
