Clicking Noise From Rear
I have a 2007 Gen 4 Pajero SWB.

When parking and going between the reverse and 1st, my car makes a very loud clicking sound from the rear...

If the car is in 4wd its less evident.

The same noise can be heard when I take my foot off the accelerator and put it back on but only when in 2wd.

Could this be just the dry side shaft story where I should put grease in on them or is it something bad and expensive to fix?

Re: Clicking Noise From Rear
I have a 2008 LWB and have the same click/chain like noise when pulling away. Also less in 4x4 than in 4x2.
Asked agents to check but they say nothing wrong. Done some research, could be the transfer case chain? To rebuild transfer case +- R15 000.

Re: Clicking Noise From Rear
Hi I had the same problem, a 2011 LWB DiD the nut on the left rear axle needs to be torqued. Mits know about it. It seems to be on the left hand side only.

Thanks for advice Vaugn, yes it is on left side, I will go to Mits Sandton and see if they can resolve (Mits Roodepoort checked but says nothing wrong)

Thanks I will check as my noise is getting worse...
Can you physically feel its loose or you just have to torque it correctly?

Re: Clicking Noise From Rear
I have a similar problem, fairly solid clunk on applying power and again when removing power, 2011 LBW auto, done 91,000km, only started last week. Sounds like a worn universal joint, definitely from rear but sounds more central, will get it to dealer this week. due for service anyway.

" the nut on the left rear axle needs to be torqued" Interesting. Noticed the same but it went away when I replaced the rear pads and shoes. Checked the pro shaft and CV's for play, but they were all fine.

Please keep us up with the progress...

All

I've read a lot about the LHS nut that seems too loosen. Sadly, this is not the case with mine. Also have a clunking sound.

Have your lower control arm bushes checked. From what I've learnt is that the bolt going through the bush should be in the center of the bush. Mine inst...... Still need to get hold of new ones for mine
Re: Clicking Noise From Rear
2007 LWB GLX - same clicking noise. seems worse when the car is warmed up. more prominent on the left side, sounds like its coming from the rear. Thought its brakes but have changed to brand new, not them!

Freek's team at Mitspro was told about it, put on the job card, got the car back, no change.

A streak of expensive and bad luck the past two months has left me near broke so I hope this isn't going to be another money sucker!
