Not sure if this has been discussed before?
Does the disconnection of your vehicle Battery has any influence on your vehicles idling?
I disconnected my battery and now has unequal idling and it keeps on doing it (4 Days now)
Sounds like a dead coil or plug to me.4x4 Outthere wrote:Not sure if this has been discussed before?

bad idling can be bad fuel, faulty injector, sticky valve, bad headgasket, maf sensor, tps, ecu fault, o2 sensor or a faulty egr.
get the car scanned for codes to help give a diagnosis.

4x4 Outthere,
I once had a battery fail on a 3.5 Blister Fender. After replacing, it idled rough for a few minutes, not four days.

Quoted from one of the manuals I have (see attachment): "Vehicles equipped with engine or transmission computers may require a relearn procedure after vehicle battery is disconnected. Many vehicle computers memorize and store vehicle operation patterns for optimum driveability and performance. When vehicle battery is disconnected, this memory is lost"
I have the problem every time I disconnect the battery, but it last for about 30 minutes to an hour, not four days. Anyways, you can try the computer re learn procedure.

Thinus, how did you solve the problem because I am sitting with the exact same problem at this very moment. I read in another thread(battery corrosion) that somebody else mentioned that his is coming right after approximately 25 kilos of driving, I must have driven in excess of 200 kilos already and the problem remains

Hi Nico,
My 1997 3.5 LWB Pajero did exectly the same thing. After taking the batery terminal off and putting it back on it did not Idle for days. I took the air intake pipe off and cleaned the throttle body with carburator cleaner and a cloth as it was very dirty. That fixed the problem. I had to replace my battery the other day and it is still fine.
Hope this helps.

Hi Nico
I disconnect both my Batteries. Left it for about an Hour. Connect it again and start the vehicle in Neutral. Initially it was uneven and high....but it came down after 2 minutes idling and it is fine now every time I start up

Ja i know about the issue with the battery.
Last night i remover the throttle body and give it a thorough clea.
This morning the cold start in better, but the flat spot seems to be worse when cold. When i floor the accelerator on the cold engine, teh engine want to stall and backfir, no power when cold.
as soo as she is hot, the power is back, but the flat spot is still there?
