Hi,
My gen3 got the standerd 16" wheels on. Looking at new tyres now and see that I can put new 15" mags and 31x10.5 tyres on for R500 cheaper than just the 16" tyres.
Will it be better to go for the 15" or stay on the 16"
The 15" rims worked for me on my 2003 DID. I like the extra rubber for the looks and the softer ride. The 31x10.5x15 in stead of the 265x70x16 tyres makes a difference of about 0.1% on the speedometer. What I like the most is that the difference in price for BFG's will be about R600 cheaper per tyre for the 15" rims. You must do some shopping because you need a rim with a bigger offset than standard. The one I've used come from my previous Pajero (Gen 1 1987 WITH 3.2 DID motor)Waldo Fourie
Baie dankie Marius. As jy can see, I'm from the same printer than your dad (4E) but printed in bold. If you know me and Gerhard (for the others that are interested) you will understand what I mean. He is older and i am wider,
One aspect worth investigating is rims from the Jeeps. On the IO the Jeep wrangler (older models) as well as the Jeep Cherokee fits the IO. Maybe there is one that will fit as they use 15" as well??????
I am about to buy some 15" Ford Ranger rims for my gen 3. I fitted one rim to the front to check for caliper clearance and this is fine. The rim sticks out about 25mm more than the original rim. Is this acceptable or will it cause fouling of the tyre on the fender?
