Hi again. I want to install a dual battery under the bonnet on my gen 3. I know many of you clever okes have done it already and wondered if you would mind sharing the design specifications of the battery tray or letting me know where i can buy one. Thanks in advance.

Ive seen someone mentioning an off the shelf product (from Pta if im not mistaken), but cant find the posting. Im also interested in one.
Yes Please Guys, I am also on the lookout for a additional battery tray or a design to make one.

Wilddog.
1. If you are near or in Pretoria, you are welcome to come and have a look at my second battery tray. I drive a Gen 3 3.8 GLS and I have a second (102 amp) deepcycle battery in the engine bay. One of my friens drive a 2001 3.2 GLS and he copied my layout and also has a 102 amp deepcycle battery in the engine bay. It works well and mine has been in operation since 2006. I, (we) have been in Angola, Zambia, Zim, Bots and Namibia with my layout. My phone no s are 012 567 4909 or 083 564 9141.
Regards, Cloyd.

Hi Cloyd,
Thanks for the offer. Im based in Jo'burg and a bit tied up with work at the moment. I will call you when I get the chance to come through. My main ambition was to get the spec's and make it public so our POCSA friends could gain the benefit too. I have started to make a tray already and have managed to fit a very large battery by pursuading the air-con pipe to move out of the way.....a lot. Now I have to make the mounting brackets and anodise. Watch this space as soon as I am done I will post the spec's, pictures and maybe some drawings.

Hi guys,
1. My extra battery tray is a "home made". I used 25mm angle iron and bought an aftermarket tiedown kit. Works like a charm. Anybody is welcome to visit and inspect. I am normally at home after 14h00 on weekday - just give me a ring to see that I am at home. 012 567 4909 / 083 564 9141.

Hi guys, I finally got around to making my battery tray for my Gen 3 3.2 DID. Thought some of you might like the specifications. I had a big battery already and did not want to buy another and you need the length on the tray for the end support but you will be able to fit a smaller battery. I am no engineer so PM me if something is not clear or I have omitted to insert a measurement.Dont forget, you need to bend and slightly twist the air-conditioning pipe out of the way.
Hope it helps.. Wilddog
