Fuel Consumption Statistics
I have created a Google spreadsheet in which you can place your fuel consumption figures for other peoples use.

I will (in time) put a little statistical tool on top of it.

Please use the input form to enter your data. Make sure you use the format litres/100km, and NOT the other way round!!

The results are visible in this sheet.

You missed a few engine sizes:
  • 2.3 (4d55 - first TD engines in Gen1)
  • 2.5 (4d56 - later TD engines in Gen1)
  • 2.6 (4G54 - 4cyl petrol in Gen1)
  • 3.2 (4m41 Di-D)

Re: Fuel Consumption Statistics
Think you should add tyre brand and type (AT/MT/HT)

Maybe also an indication of how heavy a persons foot is... e.g. When does your auto box typically change gear? (over or under 2500 rpm) Or when do you typically change gears (manual),

Also, I made a mistake, my offroad consumption should be 13.5 and not 12.5

Karl

I guess one could so that but I (as a statistician) beleive that adding all these variables does nothing to actually help work out what kind of consumption to expect. Where does one stop? How dirty one's car is?

Of course one could model this but we will never get any data to make it really meaningful.

I will fix your error

Oi, as a statistician you could fit a GLM or a neural network... :)

The more predictors you can choose from the better :p

Simon, Nice capturing facility, however "Edit - Find/Replace" not working for me. My engine capacity should read 3.2 and not "non Mitsu". Can you fix please?

Will do. As you can understand I cannot allow public editing - who knows what some malicious Toyota owner will do :).

Karl. For GLM or Neural Network to work you need at least more than 8 records :) But I get your point.

My IS honours degree was on the application of Neural Networks in the retail environment.
