Would appreciate any advice from past experience - have Pajero Sport (2016 model) and would like to fit a long-range fuel tank. Where is best place to get this done in Cape Town area, and what is the best brand to install?
Also, does the installation have any negative effect on vehicle (off-road) performace? One company told me that the installation of long-range fuel tank will drop the spare wheel by approx. 4 inches - does this have a negative affect on departure angle etc.?

Hi Robb
I installed a Frontrunner long range tank in my 2011 Pajero Sport. I believe it is still relevant for your vehicle. Sparewheel did drop a bit but departure angle did not really change (measured using broomstick from diff to towbar. Overall impression changed somewhat - it does look a bit lower when viewed from the rear. I istalled it 53000km ago and have completed a number of overland without any issues.
I can recommend frontrunner products in general. Well engineered and solid.

Re: Pajero Sport Long-Range Fuel Tank
Also installed the Frontrunner LR Fuel Tank on my 2.5 PS - it's a neat installation and although it does drop the spare at about 6 cm it sits in line with your rear diff and definitely won't affect your departure angle.
The only thing I would advise is if you are roughing it a bit, is too be carefull of scraping the tyre, although this could be said for any normal tyre setup that sits under the vehicle.
In my case, when I get to the ruff stuff, i place the spare on my roof rack

Re: Pajero Sport Long-Range Fuel Tank
Thanks & appreciate the feedback - after looking on the internet, talking to several 4x4 manufacturing comapnies etc. seems spare wheel must drop, alternative permanent solution is to mount a wheel carrier on the back but then rear-view camera & park distance sensors are lost, + the extra cost. Probably go for the FR and do as Michael suggested. Thanks again!

Apologies FarcaX - I mean a photo of your PS rear-view to appreciate the effect of lowered spare wheel by xtra fuel tank (I looked everywhere on the web, but can't find a pic showing this). Thnx

Get hold of Gerbers on the East Rand or Arnold Venter at Mitsitech in Alberton.
