I have two mac's saying it is the sensors and two others saying it is the diesel pump. Same problem somewhere? Can someone help please? :?: :(

The T/C and ABS lights will light up simultaneously whenever a fault is registered by the ECU. This post gives you the procedure to diagnose the fault codes registered:

I somehow don't think your fault is related to the ABS sensors. I have on occasion unplugged an ABS sensor to shut down the ABS/TC totally............and the car runs absolutely normal apart from the two lights being on.

Maybe start by trying to identify the logged fault codes.

Hi Gerrie,

I had the same problem. Everybody, including the agents told me that it was the diesel pump, according to the computer fault codes. This is a common problem on Pajero. I got hold of a guy in Australia who had the same problem, and who found a solution.

I did the same as he did. Replaced my MAP sensor, and cleaned the intake of the feed to the MAP sensor. Problem solved immediately. My Pajero is 100%. I have done 12 000km since, and problem still solved. MAP sensor is about R 900. It took about 15 min to replace the sensor and clean the intake.

Hope this will solve your problem as well.

Cheers,
Johan

Hi Gerrie,

I have probably the same problem, here in Belgium.
However the loss of power is not that much.
And there is always a distinct noise when I push the car in higher revs, under load: It is almost like the car starts to ping.
The engine code is 43, or the Timing Control Valve System.

Do you recognize the sound ?

I'm going to the mechanic on Wednesday. I'm afraid he will want to changes the pump, which is not the culprit, I learned here.

A.

Johan,
I spoke Mits. dealer in Pretoria. They are not sure offhand where the MAP sensor is situated. Could you give more detail so I can forward it to them.
Where do you live?
Regards Gerrie

Hi Gerrie,

See attached photos. Location of MAP sensor.
Follow tube from MAP sensor. Remove pick-up from intake. Clean hole in intake and hole in pick-up.

This solved my problem.

Let me know.

Dear Pajero-Colleagues,

First of all: TX a lot for all suggestions and help.

Today I went to a Mitsu mechanic together with my own mechanic.
He listened to my story but could not make a direct spot diagnosis.
He read the codes: Indeed 43 came out, together with some others. He did not make much about these codes. As it is the first time the errors are read it could be a cumulative report.
He cleared them all asked me to bring back the car on Monday.
He will read the codes again and will then change the upper chain guide, look at the chain itself and set the valves. He will also look at the EGR.

That guy, I reckon hem around 65 years old, looked very confident and trustworthy: fingers crossed.

To be continued ...
