Re: Faulty Heat Gauge GEN 3
I've been doing more reading...surprise....can any one enlighten me as to whether or not there are actually two temp sensors...? i.e. 1 temp sender that sends info to the ECU, and another (from just under the thermostat) that sends info to the temp gauge on the dash...

I read this on an Aussie forum, and just wondered if anyone knew...from what they know about sport, I'm dubious...and before I dredge myself out in the cold and rain and dark..

Re: Faulty Heat Gauge GEN 3
Hi Goldmember,

I have recently started having the very same Temp reading issue, and the engine is not hot at all. Have done the following already:

Taken to SIlverton Radiators - rodded, flushed, cleaned (lots of grass and stuff :-)) and tested radiator
Replaced Thermostat
Replaced both sensor sending units in the engine

Gauge is better, but still going "mal" all on it's own, 1 minut fine, next 5 seconds past the top of the red. Engine is definately not hot, and the water is not boiling, sometimes this occurs within 30-60 seconds. Definately gauge going off it's rocker.

Have you replaced any gauges or "green boards" as referred to on other sites.

Mine is a 2001 Petrol 3500GLS model, so appears not limited to the diesels doing the temp dance problem.

Any feedback would be great.

Thanks

David
