Had the 75k service done a few weeks ago. All four corners received new disk pads (for the first time). The slightest (almost imperceptible) judder escalated into a full blown judder with the new pads. Mitsu dealer had all four discs skimmed today under the maintenance plan. The drive back from Nelspruit down the mountain was a pleasure this afternoon.

Under maintenance plan I would not accept skimmed disks. As Marius said they do not last well, probably until the maintenance plan runs out and then $$$$

I also started the day thinking I'll insist on new disks.
1)My energy levels didn't allow for a fight
2)The service manager explained that they replace only once a certain thickness (read thinness) is reached. Mine needed the slightest of skim only
3)I'm rather keen on those Powerbrake disks and had them in the back of my mind the whole time in any case. So wouldn't mind going that route next time.

On the Pajero there is very little differance when I enquired last year and I opted to put on the std Pajero disks in stead of the Power disks to keep it std
I am happy with the std brakes iven while towing my boat. The little i might gain can be offset against the dealers fitting the 'wrong' pad composition to the Power disks

JDV would be interesting to know who made the statement around there being very little difference between standard and the Power disc kit. I have had my Pajero from new and always towed a heavy trailer +- 1500-1800 KG depending on the load. I have just fitted the Power brake kit up front. Done just over 800Km so they have just settled in. I have found a big difference but that may just be me being biased. Easter weekend will be doing some mountainous driving off road so I will be able to give a detail report as there will be a lot Braking. I must admit that it is only my assuption as the standard brakes are, according to my experience very good. By that I mean I can always stop within the distance I want to stop; so to put an alternative system on that might be 50% bettr but the pads lasts 50% less would not be a bennefit to me as the cost and inconvenience to get the right pads will outweigh the bennefits

I have had pronounced brake shudder on my Gen 4 LWB since about 20000km. The discs were skimmed at 30000km but now at 33000km the breaks squeak badly once they have warmed up. Many have told me not to accept skimming under maintenance plan, but there's no way the Mitsubishi dealer would listen to my request.
What causes squeaky brakes and how should it be corrected?

it's under warranty. Take it back and let them sort it out.
