Can someone tell me if it's ok to charge a Pajero 3.2DID via one of the small trickle chargers that plugs into a vehicle's cigarette lighter?
Don't know, but if it works on any other car, why should the Pajero be any different?

No. The cigarette lighter is only switched via relay when the ignition is on the "acc" or "on" position.
well then can I charge the battery via one of the accessory points that are not linked via relay?

I suspect they are all relayed via the accessory switch on the ignition.
Maybe it would make sense, if you want to do it that way, to wire and install a new cigarette lighter socket with thick cables (to avoid voltage drop) to accommodate a charger.
