Re: What have you done to your Pajero today?
I noticed a high pitch whistling noise lately when pushing the engine a bit uphill, first thought the turbo has gone south but found a small leak on the exhaust manifold where a bolt fell out. So had that replaced and new gasket fitted. Noise all gone 8-)

While it was in I also took the plunge and had the catalytic converter removed. I have always been a staunch supporter of leaving any vehicle standard, engine wise, as much as possible and have never seen any need to do this before but thought that at just under 300000km that it might be "slightly" blocked.
Took it out and it sounds a bit more throaty. Feel about the same power wise. Will monitor if it makes any difference on fuel consumption.

. Were you able to do a visual inspection of the cat after it was removed? Did you notice any carbon deposits or blockages?

Yeah it was pretty carboned up on the one side but it still let air through so dont know if it really restricted anything noteworthy. The car has a much more freeflowing sound at the zikzorst after the removal at idle if you stand outside, so it must be breathing a bit better though. I will monitor fuel usage and egt in comparison to before and report back over time.

Cats it sounds like your timing intuition to delete the cat was just about spot-on. Another question if you don't mind:
Is there perhaps an electronic sensor that has to be disabled at the same time when you throw off the cat? I think petrol engines have a lambda sensor after the cat to measure oxygen levels. Secondly did you have the cat replaced by welding in normal exhaust piping?

No sensor was disabled as far as I know. If I recall correctly from other posts the sensor on the Pajero gen3 sits before the cat and is not affected by removal. Yes a straight pipe was welded in place of the cat.

Not so much what I've done to my Pajero, but what was done to my Pajero by some idiot that doesnt understand a 4 way stop.
Got T-Boned on the left rear door but a d..... that skipped a flashing red traffic light. Plastics masks the damage but floor pan/door sill is damaged, all plastics are ruined and rim is damaged. Two days before leaving and a well deserved holiday

Took the plunge and fitted 4 new Hankook Dynapro ATM's. BF's were finished.

I am astounded how quiet my car has become. :D :P :D
Re: What have you done to your Pajero today?
Adjusted the strikers on passenger door and back door to stop a very annoying intermittent squeaky rattle. So far, so good :)
