Re: Snoopy (Pajero 3.2Did) died on me today!
I haven't looked into the forum for a while. sorry to hear about Snoopy and hope she's got a new life hereafter.

My Goue Valk is only on odd 116000km - so what I am learning is that I must start putting a little bit away every month so that in 5 years time the shock will be expected and prepared for.

Hi

After this thread I have also booked my car at AB tomorrow

She has done 235 000 now and as far as I can tell no work has been done on injectors

Let's hope they run their tests and all is good

Cats, let me know if you want me to check up on your vehicle....

Regards

Hope the verdict is good for you. I have been crazy busy lately and only saw your posting now. My car is ready for collection and if I knew you were going there I could have caught a lift as it is on the otherside of the world from where I am.

CATS, if they did a dyno test let me know what the power at the wheels result is. Mine came in at 69KW which appears a bit low but Bradley said she was 100% normal for that engine. I have my doubts.

I've been reading up about the results on axle vs flywheel power readings on a dyno.

Apparently you can expect around a 30% decrease due to drivetrain/gearbox /torque converter inefficiencies (this appears to be standard)

Maybe we should upload our scanned dyno results in a separate thread?

On 2013-03-11 on AB's rolling road dyno my results were:
Before: 71.8kW @ 3044 rpm 234 Nm @ 2839 rpm
After: 74.8 kW @ 3034 rpm 246 Nm @ 2708 rpm

Work done was replace injectors (with AB refurbished units) and adjust valve clearances.

MY2002 Di-D 3.2 @ approx 234000 km. They did not adjust the pump timing (did not need to) and did not do any work on the pump because I was there the whole time. The work was done as preventative maintenance since the injectors had never been replaced.

Got the Snoopster back today and she is purrring like a contended cat again!! Alan Black was kind enough to organize drop off of the vehicle at my office at no extra cost. Great stuff for me as they are really a hell of a long way out of my daily routine.

Also filled her to the brim with diesel for the next trip and got a shocker because I forgot the Aux tank was empty as well!! 98liters in one go is EINA!

Will check out all the papers and boxes they left in the car tonight and give feedback on the dyno results.

The biggest single cost item on the bill was the GE Actuator which alone was R8526(ex VAT) for the part alone! Total bill came to R33434 inclusive VAT and it included replacement of the injectors at R6270(Incl VAT).

I will be checking fuel consumption and EGT's to see how much it differ, if at all, but so far I am happy although slightly poorer in money.

By the way I decided to keep her and rather sell that other brand that is standing in my garage  .

Hi CATS,

Happy to hear that Snoopy is back at home in his kennel - AND will be staying with you going forward.

Sorry to hear about the cost.

Yikes - you couldn't bury something much deeper in the pump than that GE Actuator. For those wondering what the GE Actuator is, here is a little bit of info: Zexel VRZ.

Does Alan Black or anyone else in RSA offer repair exchange on complete re-manufactured Zexel VRZ pumps fitted with new GE Actuator and TCV?

This doesn't seem like something that one could abuse / cause to fail as an owner or through poor maintenance / lack of maintenance etc., so presumably it is just age?

How many people have had this fail and at what mileage / age?
