Strange noises in my Gen 4
Hi all

Lately my Gen 4 has developed a strange noise, but only on acceleration from about 115 to 130  Km/hr...

Noise sounds like a grumbling from the rear :?:

I really cannot make out if its gearbox, diff, rear bearings, but its only when I accelerate over the mentioned speeds. I even hear it over the sound of the radio. Have removed roof rack to see if I can hear it better, but no.

Any ideas?
Re: Strange noises in my Gen 4
Might be the rear outer cv or cv inside the propshaft. What is the play like on the propshaft?

Cats. To me, it feels fine. There is a little play, but I really cannot comment on if its too much or not.... Doesnt feel excessive.
The wheel bearings (which have been replaced after they made a noise) sound OK.
Wheels are tight,

I dunno :?:
Re: Strange noises in my Gen 4
Maybe change the rear diff oil with new and correct spec and see if it makes a difference.

Re: Strange noises in my Gen 4
I know it is an old one, but try rotating the tyres. Tyres occasionally lose their shape, causing them to "bounce" and this could cause the resonating grumbling you heard. Option B Remove SWAMBO from rear seat or avoid doing 130km... :)
