Something is draining my batery
Any advise would be appreciated
For one or the other reason my Gen 2 Model 1995 3 liter old lady are using a lot of batery when standing parked in the garage. After day 2 batery would be very low and after a week batery are to flat to start her up.
What could be the problem?

Any advise woud realy be appreciated

The only way to keep betery life is to disconnect one of the cables of the batery.

I thougt on instaling a switch (inside the vehicle) that would totaly disconnect the batery from whole electric system, but there are a lot of bridges to cross to get that done. Any advise on this please.

Thanks
Re: Something is draining my batery
First check your battery, take it in to a reputable battery shop and get it tested.

Make sure all interior lights are turned off.

If fine, get a multi meter, and set meter up to read amps. Disconnect the negative battery terminal cable from the battery. Take a reading between the negative terminal on the battery and the disconnected cable.
You can see what type of amps is being drawn.

Then take out 1 fuse at a time and see if the ampage drops significantly, that will be the circuit that is causing the problem. If no real drop, try the next fuse etc There can be 2 or more fuses that together might add up to high ampage.
See what doesn't work with that fuse, then maybe you can trace where the problem lies

Likely causes are
Tracking device
Voltmeters
interior lights staying on
Shorts by your trailer plug
Even your ECU pulls power continuously

Hi Ian

Do you have any kind of tracking device in the car. It is a well known problem that after about two years, the rechargeable battery in the tracking device starts to die. It then draws constantly from the car battery and drains it in 2 days.
There could be a tracking device from a previous owner that you don't know about.

Hi,
Our gen4 had the same problem.
Discovered a Tracker, which was removed & the problem went away!

Good Luck.

@DandB

Please clarify, was it a 'Tracker' or a tracking devise ?

My understanding is that Tracker (the brand)use a device that has its own battery and NOT connected to the car's battery. Which also makes it a good product for caravans/trailers etc that don't have a battery.

Other brands use devises that also have their own battery but are connected to the main battery and this is where the problems arise.
