Good Morning! The 12V plug in the front console of my Gen4 (2007) Pajero is not working. Apparently it is the unit and not 'just' the fuse. I phoned the dealer and they quoted me R800 for the part!! Plus R350 labour to replace. If I remember correctly, this unit has a built-in fuse (?) which makes it very difficult to replace a fuse when and if it blows! Is there maybe a handy 'sparky' in or near Pretoria that has figured out a better way of doing this without burning out the car? Your input and advice would be appreciated.
That certainly looks nice! AND practical
Do you know if it fits into the available space in the console? And the other question is that of the fuse(s)?

Hi NatureFan
There is a fuse on the lighter unit itself, in the form of a "melt" wire that, umm, well melts when overheating. Fixed mine with a piece of soldering wire. Took longer to remove and replace the unit than the fix!

If you can feel the grass between your toe's, your flying too low!

Hi Nature Fan
I experience the same problem with my center console plug after plugging in a faulty fridge.
All my fuses front & under the dash is in tact, yet the plug does not work.
I am definitely going to follow Andre's advice. Thanks Andre

Hi Andre, thanks for the tip. I had a feeling there was something like that afoot because I seem to remember I had the same problem once before but it was when the car was still quite new (i.e. a LONG time ago!)Lock wrote:Hi NatureFan

Unfortunately I have absolutely no idea where to start to remove the unit/panelling and therefore still have to find an auto-electrician that knows how to remove the Pajero's dash without breaking all those tiny little (and by now no longer so flexible and...and....) clips.
