Gen 3 front shocks - Nelspruit area
My front shocks have expired ... I need to replace them but cant seem to find anyone in Nelspruit area that is reliable and that can help me. I have a 2001 SWB 3500 V6. I would like to fit the Monroe shocks. Can anyone help me locate someone in the area that can help me.

Thanks

Mike,

I did my shocks at Autoquip Nelspruit a few months ago - fitted Monroe Adventures all round for just below R3500. They were the cheapest. Ask them for a quote.

Was it also the Gen 3?

I was there last week . After removing my cars shocks and getting the wrong Monroes ... they had to refit the old ones ... 10:00 - 15:30 ... esh i was mad. And the workers while re-fitting the old ones and jacking up the front didnt look and caracked the fiber wheel arches on the front and back ... so now i have a fight with them re the repairs.

Frustrated

I can understand your frustration. I would then advise buying the shocks from Midas/Autoquip and have them fitted elsewhere like Speedy, Tiger Wheel and Tire, Supa Quick. You can also try 4x4 Mega World, Rudamans or LA Sport.

PS: My wheels were wearing in a funny manner and I took it to Autoquip Nelspruit for advise. They stated very adamantly that it was shocks that caused the problem. I found out it was not the shocks, but rather the lack of rotation of the wheels that caused that certain type of wear. In hindsight.....I can't really blame them seeing that only a few very knowledgeable guys were able to provide the right solution to the wearing problem. But ja, they did not know what to say.

Thanks for the reply ..

I did email the manager to complain and he will meet me there tomorrow to see the damages and see if they can assist us with the Monroe shocks. They quoted me for the Gen2 shocks are very different to the Gen3 shocks and now the price seems to almost be double.

Lets see what the can do for me tomorrow.

Mike,

Check out those Gabriel KUBU's suggested by Simon. They are great, and comes at a reasonable price.

Hi,

Maybe try these guys:

They seem to do Bilstein, which is very highly regarded in Australia for the Gen 3.

I think I'll go for these when I replace mine.
