i have never experienced this but do know about brakes. If I were you I would check your rear caliper and make sure all the guide pins and the piston are moving freely. sounds like you have something catching up there.

Thanks Wilddog. I'll have a check. I also started picking up a slight grinding noise when applying brakes and assume discs /pads might also need attention.
@ Wilddog. Thanks again, you were right. One caliper/piston was stuck and did not move well. Rubber seal was punctured and piston had a bit of rust on it.
Don't know if because of this more pressure was exerted on the other side but on the inner brake pad on the opposite side was down to the metal while the other three were still fair.

Glad I could be of help. The caliper with the worn out pads was the only caliper working so it makes sense that the side with the problem still had fairly thick pads.
I have had a front brake caliper seizing, this caused the vehicle to pull sharply to one side during heavy braking.Had to recondition the caliper, seal kit etc. This was due to damaged rubber boot when changing pads. Yesterday started feeling a shudder under braking and also when driving over 80kmh,dealers are busy replacing complete rear caliper, I also thought it was front, cheapest option was replacing with after market rather than reconditioning. Labor cost at dealers over here is 80GBP an hour, approximately R1500-00/hour, eish!
