thermostat is in but I haven't been driving it, colleague has been using for work and she doesn't keep fuel records etc.

I will never get to know what difference it made because I found another way of saving more fuel.

I feel you, this is really technical for me too, but I suppose one learns as one goes along.

Its a thought thats starting to cross my mind,
a) Upgrading to a series 3
b) Changing over to a Diesel

although, I really like the blister fender,

What are the advantages of a series 3 vs series 2, and diesel vs Petrol (other than water crossings)

I really want to start looking at a possible change, but I sit with a few problems regarding getting rid of Bismark
these are:

The idiot who sold the car to me under the guarantee that he would give me the owner manual when he got it,
left the company who I bout the car from, they did manage to get the book for me, but with ABSOLUTELY NO SERVICE history in the book - the company wont help out any which way, as they said they booted this guy because he was on his own mission and sold the pajero at a cheaper price, did not divluge info correctly etc.
I still have the jump seats at the back, but they are not installed, and it looks like theres a few items missing in order to install them (this did not bother me, as I would never need / use them anyway) but I imagine they would help toward the re-sale.
I bought a Hannibal roof-rack, which is awesome, but will not fit the series 3.
Have just had the Autobox re-done (lock-up solinoid replaced etc)

So I knw I will DEFINATELY not get my money back,
I bought it for R50,000.00 and have spent about R18,000 on it (excluding roof-rack)
but without any service history, I'm sure it wont sell easily.
Book value as it is now is about R78,000

But, if the pros are really all that much worth it, I might just have to let it go at a slight loss

my gen2 is in perfect shape. Few bumps and scratches but all round reliable and a good runner. I built it up so I'm kinda attached to it.

I test drove the Gen3 and was sold immediately. The next morning was even worse. When the dealer promptly started on all the items I pointed out that needs fixing, I was completely convinced and made up my mind to take it.

this TS is stamped 82degrees - I bought the wrong one way back last year.


mitsu specifies 88 degrees for my engine - I bought this one a few weeks ago and dropped it in. It made no difference on the temp gauge but hopefully the ECU sees the temp difference and backs of the fueling and advances the timing slightly giving better consumption.

It is only a year old but I wouldn't feel happy giving you a ts that has been standing in a salty dusty atmosphere for weeks. A faoiled thermostat is very very expensive. I highly recommend a new one.
