Mmm no answers. Ok went looking again and found this link

which shows more or less what happens after air goes through device. It seems that most of the air increase velocity but soon start slowing down again. I would still like to know for what reason does the air get straightened? Any feedback will be appreciated.

You mentioned this helps at gear shift over. Could you pick up any difference running at at high revs?

In my opinion the flow is straigthened to improve the consistency of the MAF sensor reading. More vorticity is actually beneficial to uniform mixing of fuel and air and hence to complete combustion.

That make sense. So I think these devices try to introduce vorticity principal of say race cars into a calculated system. For it to have a chance then you will have to remove the obstruction that straightens the air and that might give inconsistent results on the MAF. Thanx for replying.

The next clip shows a "somewhat" objective test, indicating the Tornado makes no difference:

Somehow I think that fuel consumption is so important, that car manufacturers will not hesitate to use these products in their design if is was of any real value.
It is good that guys out there tries to design and develop things to improve our lives, but to pay for things that only work in theory is senseless.

I had one of those fitted to my Wrangler Jeep. Complete waste of time. Did nothing to performance or fuel consumption.
