Help! Hasn't anyone got any info on this? If not - does anyone have idea how we could find out? Is there an overseas Pajero club that could help for example, or some other source that you know about?

... and there I was, thinking there was some valuable info posted in the tread! ;)
What further info do you need?

Any of the mentioned shocks will be good.
I can add Bilsteins into the options, because they are serving me well on the Gen1.

Yes - there was good info on the shocks, for which I am grateful, but the later queries were about the difference between OME and Ironman full upgrades, that is what I am trying to find out about. Do either affect the tar performance or just the off-road experience, for example - just what do the upgrades DO? It doesn't have to be SA specific information, Australian or European groups can give the same info but I can't find it anywhere. When I had my previous 4x4s it was back in the 70's and 80' with series 2a and 3 Landrovers - the only options at that time seemed to be to add an extra leaf to the rear spring :D
Didn't mean to offend anyone.

OK - found this discussion from a few years back, for anyone that is interested:
https://www.4x4community.co.za/forum/sh ... php?t=6479
Conclusion - none but tending towards OME except that OME are gas filled and Ironman are foam cell which is supposed to be better?! Both mainly/partly built in China it seems!
Interested in the Aussie tough dog and Bilstein suggestion. Also Camils were discussed.

John, you will never get a definitive answer to which suspension is best. It is down to personal choice.
You will also get the same answer to which tyre choice is best.

Unfortunately this is a trial and error affair and which suits your requirements best.

My 2c anyway.

Nico.

Hi Nico,
It would seem so :? However I think that it is always good to get other's opinions - mainly so that possible failings and/or faults are known rather than necessarily what is best.
Replacing shocks and tyres is not cheap so I would like to know what to look out for when the time comes. Presumably technology has moved on since my Pajero was built circa 1997 so perhaps a better performing type of tyre and shock-absorber now exists. Hence the queries. Since I am now really a 'newcomer' in the 4x4 game after an absence of over 20 years it makes sense to me to investigate all possibilities.
I must say that my present setup seems fine to me (Geolander 215/80/15 ATs and standard shocks) - just been round the local passes ring:- Prince Albert, Montagu, 7 passes, and Phantom passes, and last week to Die Hel via the Swartberg Pass. Lovely!!! Love the Pajero!

Thanks for all assistance,
John
