3.5, any news on this? Mines got the same problem, funny klak klak sounds in front right when making power in 4x4. I just got a non running 2.8 for a steal. Dunno how much is interchangeable with my 3.5 but I'm hoping most of the drive train is or at least the part that's buggered.

Hi guys

I also had a cluck cluck noise on mine. I had everybody look and listen to the noise. Eventualy after some research I came to the conclusion that is can only be the chain in the transfer case. I got someone to put in a new one and my problems were gone.
I had the noise when driving steep inclines and declines and turning sharply for some windup to happen. Thus when the chain was under pressure it will skip some teeth in die transfer case. The chain was stretched over some years or maybe the previous owner drove it with TCase locked on tar.

I now have some other clicking noise when driving in 4H, 4HL and 4L on gravel. The sound's frequency increase with rpm. This sounds like front wheels not engaging porperly. I also get a run away car when decending steep hills. This is very troublesome.

I know I should check the vacuum, actuator etc. But where do I start with the tests to find the problem?
