Good choice and yip, add that cruise control, you won't be sorry.
The 30% fuel consumption difference is spot-on with my experience.

The 3.8V6 is the same engine and output in the Gen 3 and 4. Your info on the 150kw is wrong (I think). The official numbers for the Pajeros in SA is 184kw for the 5door and 182kw for the 3door.
