Are we sure he drove a Pajero? None of what he says sounds like the Pajero I have

We went on the same trip but with Coastal Adventures. I borrowed my wifes Pajero 3.2 DID AUTO LWB generation 4 because I thought it would do better than my Triton 3.2 DID AUTO. Did not get stuck or loose front or rear bumpers. Could not do two of the diffucult obsticuls because of the electronic traction control not allowing enough power to do them. I tried to switch it of but even when of it does not cut out. The guide removed the fuse but even that do not cut out the traction control and when the fuse is out you can not start your vehicle until it is replaced. When we returned I asked the dealer what went wrong because in my opinion the Pajero is the best vehicle on the planet. He told me that one must visit your dealer before you go on a trip like this so that they can switch the traction control of with a computer. I will do that next time because you needs revs and speed to go up the huge dunes. Even with this problem I did manage to do the " Landrover Grave Yard ". If I am not mistaken that is / was Andrews top rated 4x4 until not long ago. Did somebody else had the same problem ??? The best percfoming vechiles on the trip was the Prado 4.0 l. It could go wherever the highly modified guides Landcruiser 4.5 l went. After the trip I compared the Pajero 3.8 l to the Prado 4.0 l and saw that the Pajero outperforms the Prado on paper. Wittes is a brilliant guide and we will return on this trip. No woman or children went with us so we went for the big dunes. Only vehile that did not make it was a Nissan Pathfinder. Burned its clutch which was maybe a driver error. Until that point it performed very well. I dont like Nissans at but was impressed.
If I must rate the performance of the vehicles on the trip from it would be in the following order : 1.) Land Cruiser 4.5 l Modified & Prado 4.0 l 2.) Toyota Landcruiser 200 Diesel 3.) Toyota D4D 3 l Double Cabs 4.) Pajero 3.2 DID LWB AUTO 5.) Nissan Pathfinder 2.5 l 6.) Toyota Prado 3.0 l Diesel absolutely useless without enough power big struggle. Who knows what the Pajoero could have done without the traction control problem. On paper it should outperform the D4D's which did very well.

Thanks for that report. I am looking at doing this very trip next year sometime (hopefully), out of interest sake, with whom should I be in contact with to organise such a trip?

I have decided that I will not purchase Leisure Wheels magazine any more. Though they did print two responses to the article that sparked this post, they also printed another article by that man. Again, he looks talks crap in his article comparing 4x4's to 4x2 and some bunnyhugger crap with the most redicolous comparisons.

I will post an easy solution to this problem under the "Electrical and Electronics" section which works well on the Gen3. Maybe you should see if it works on the Gen4.

His reply actuall raised my blood pressure.... I also have been told that a few years back he was so proud of his Pajero....

I will jsut not read any of his dribbel in future, as he says, just skip his story

This guy has lost any bit of credibility in my books. I used to think that he was a well educated open minded person but he has proven himself to be just another philistine that does not understand modern technology.
