Anyone used them before?

It seems like the SWB and LWB use the same kit!?

They list 2 kits - MIT07.MN133.476 and MIT11.MN354.556 - seems like one is a heavy duty version (can handle more loading).

I'm going to try pick up a kit tomorrow.

Greg,
I thought that you may be interested in where I installed my AirLift inflation points. See photo:

I got my air lift kit... and I'm going to attempt the installation toady :)

This is what the parts look like. It is kit number: 80590

Just wondering if they look the same as those you have installed?

One thing that I find a bit strange, is that the red spacer, which goes at the bottom, is going to sit against the spring "perch" on the lower suspension arm. The coil spring goes around this "perch". The "perch" is not 100% level (it is higher towards the outside of the car. The spacer is also a bit flexible - maybe due to the non-level perch?

Oh, and my kit did not include a heat shield...

Re: Air Suspension Gen 3 Installation
Greg,
I did not quite have the same problem as the perch or dish at the bottom in my case is a rubber one. So I just pushed it in as far as I can. Gave me 20mm lift at pressure and still some 7mm or so at .5 bar. I would consider grinding the thing down to make it fit better in your case.
I will attempt to show you pictures of my own manufactured heat shield which fits between the silencer and the coil as well as the tiny one (as big as my hand) that was supplied with the kit.

Re: Air Suspension Gen 3 Installation
Thanks Bigwill.

I tried installing the kit today, but the top spacer won't fit between the openings of the coil. Even with the car jacked up, and the lower shock absorber bolt removed, the openings in the coil are too small :(

The lower spacer is about 12mm, which fits through fine. The upper spacer is 55mm thick - too thick to insert between the coil openings :(

Maybe the kit that is supplied in JHB has a thinner upper spacer (and a bigger air bag)?

So I have 2 options - remove the lower control arm - that mean I have to remove one bolt that is used for camber adjustment. Alternatively, I must get some coil compressors to remove the coil.

And ideas?

Re: Air Suspension Gen 3 Installation
Greg,
You certainly have a unique problem.
My upper spacers were only a little thicker than normal pvc insulation tape. About 25mm. I know this because I taped around the perimeter of the disc to make it fit tightly into the top chassis dish. I suggest you give the people in Jetpark Boksburg a ring and discuss the problem with them. I sent you the phone number via PM. Here it is again 011 397-6390. They are the sole importers of all AirLift products and supply all other outlets in SA.
Questions to resolve with them are:
1. Does the part number CS-0038 which they gave me apply to your car aswell.
2. What part number did you get.
3. For what model is the partnumber they gave you.
4. Does your car have standard suspension coils.
5. Did you order extra length airbags because of upgraded coils in your car.
6. Can they supply you with one or two thinner discs for both sides to suite the application.

You will find the bloke and the lady there very helpfull and I am sure they will ship you the right stuff once the problem is determined.

Re: Air Suspension Gen 3 Installation
Hi Bigwill,

Thanks for all the help so far :)

Seeing as I have time today, I'm going to try remove the coil.

I checked in my Haynes manual, that you can remove the coil without removing the entire lower control arm. You just remove the lower shock bolt, and another knuckle bolt on the hub. This allows the control arm to swing down, releasing the coil (without removing the camber adjustment bolt).

If I don;t have success, I'll give the guys in Jetpark a call. I did phone them a while back, before I found the local supplier, and I spoke to Norman, who was very helpful.

I also need to remove the coil, because the top spacer from my kit is to thick.

What knuckle are you refering to?

The one that connects to the anti-sway bar that is right behind the brake caliper?

Cheers

Nope, not the anti-sway bar... It is the bolt at the tip of the control arm. You can only get to it with the wheel off.

This image shows the two bolts that need to be removed - Lower shock bolt and another one next to it (holds control arm to hub).
