Hi all.
Okay, pressure test done, everything seems fine. So for now I have started replacing ALL the pipes, holy crap there are a lot of them, cause it seems that as soon as we replace one, it bursts the next weekest link on the system.
We also replaced the crank bolt on the previous service, so that should be solved.
Hopefully, fingers crossed, this will resolve the issue.
Regards

replace the thermostat while you are busy with the cooling system.
Get a genuine mitsu one. They are much more reliable than the pirate ones.

Remember to fill the system with a good quality coolant - NOT PURE WATER!

While on the subject of thermostats, I was advised by one of the technical folks at mitsu to drill a 6mm hole in to the thermostat. Did just that and my baby runs much cooler in summer than before. In winter it does take a bit longer to reach optimum temp but nothing serious.

There is an existing bypass valve in the opening part of the thermostat . It looks like a hole with a ball like thingimajig in it, I have drilled the hole right next to that little valve thingy. I will see if I can find an old one in the workshop and take a couple of pics

Thanx HB
okay now I really don't know.
Last night I got home, engine was running cool and smooth, switched it off and went into the house, heard something like gun shot, went back outside to see my beloved Pajero pissing water from the back of the engine it seems.
All pipes were replaced, compression test is fine, so what the hell. I see the radiator cap is 0.9 bar, but definitely not a Mitsu one. Could this be it?? I'm also noticing that the radiator overflow doesn't seem to be happening.
Who on the East Rand can I take it to have a look at this without costing me my other arm and leg??

It's hard to say for sure until you test the cap ( at a radiator shop ) and test the thermostat in boiling water.
You might even have a blocked heater core.
