Bostokkelos - do you have pics of your bashplates?
Re: Bashplate recommendation
I got one from Uys at stofpad for the PJ.

i am waiting for the gearbox plate. The plates are different for the Auto and Manual PJ.

The price was right and i will got to Uys anytime again.

For me its not about how it looks, its about how it performs and the protection this plate gives and i did hit a rather huge rock a month ago and the bash plate only had a slight scratch.

From the top.

Front bolts are hidden so there is no change that a rock can shear of the bolts or damage it. No access to the oil filter but there is a access panel for the sump plug.

Re: Bashplate recommendation
I have the Lynx4x4 plate and can honestly say that it is a quality piece of engineering work. Having access to the sump plug to do the oil service without removing the whole plate is a big bonus.

The Stofpad one also looks nice and I like the intercooler recessed slots as that might help to get better airflow to the intercooler on the diesel.

Johan,

I have the prototype bashplate Uys made for the Gen3's - problem is he made it for a Gen3 fitted with an ARB bumper and mine still has the plastic one fitted. So I need to cut it to make it fit.

Is it possible to take some front on and closer pics of you bashplate please? It will help me measure where to cut.

Re: Bashplate recommendation
might be a stupid question but....
why recess the front bolts to protect them when these bolts are high up on the vehicle ? I mean if you hit something that will damage these front bots you are going to damage a lot of other things as well.
The rear one's are more exposed and in the 'war' zone but they are not recessed, I susspect the front ones are done like that for a diff reason.

Re: Bashplate recommendation
Hi Guys.

I was at an anonymous 4x4 part retailer to have a belly plate fitted... What a disappointment, R 1600.00 for a small 3mm plate that does not cover my exhaust pipe or gearbox sump. I took some measurements this afternoon and designed my own plate on CAD, I have a 750 x 1300 x 4mm mild steel plate that I will try to bend and cut into the required shape. The steel cost me R 465.00.

Nick. No need to be anonymous on the supplier - we want to avoid junk :)

Would you consider having a second one made up for me?
