I had a similar problem. My 2001 3.2DiD SWB r/f door winder cable started to disintegrate. I took it to a cableshop for replacement, upon receiving it back the window closed fully and then opened 1/3 way. They said they don't know how to fix it (blamed it on the car's computer) and said it is now my problem (pity I already paid them).

I decided to take the whole door apart and tested the mechanism whilst removed from the door. I realised that the mechanism moved to the fully closed position stopping against the top plastic pully, and then reverses. I then dismantled the whole winder assembly and saw that the one cable is slightly longer than the other, took a chance and swapped the two, and voila! It's working perfect.

I am a happy chappy!

I had a colt rodeo with the exact same problem a few years ago. I took it to Mitsubishi in centurion. One of the technicians took a personal interest in it and after two days asked me if he could cut the yellow wire on the window switch. I agreed and the problem was solved for ever.

I asked what the yellow wire did and his answer was a simple who knows.

Anyway. It never caused a hassle again.

Hi Guys

Just got my first Pajero, 2003 3.2 DID 3 door and love it, unfortunately it also hes a window issue, my left window opens up as soon as i start her up, and sometimes when I want to close it only closes a bit then stops, and this is from the switch on the passengers side, as the switch on the drivers side does not work, maybe a electrical issue?

Do you think it might also be an issue with the cables?

I also have the same problem that I've seen most guys have, that the super shift light keeps flashing and that It does not want to disengage from 4WD to 2WD, have read most of the posts over the last two days and will have a look at it over the week end seeing as it might be a couple of smaal things here or there, but over all She is a Beaut...

But back to the window problem, do you thing it might also be a case of just replacing the cables or might it be a battery problem?

I know she needs a new battery... this one expired a couple of weeks ago...

I appreciate the help, Thanks

Hi Werewolf - welcome to the owners club.

From what I have seen it is normally the driver's window (used most often) that fails.

I wonder if your non-working switch on the driver's door window control cluster is not the problem. If I were in your position I would fix that first before stripping the passenger door.

Enjoy your vehicle!

Hi Guys, just thought I would share this with you...
My window stopped going up, heard terrible noises from inside the door, stripped it and saw a nice birds nest of wires from the pulley system, removed the entire system and took it to Anropa inn Maitland (Cape Town) at 10h00. At 16h00 and ONLY R385.00 i picked up my rewired mechanism, fitted it and all works 100% Was an absolute pleasure dealing with Anropa and saved me well over R2000.00 by going to them

Have a good day!!

I am based in Centurion.
The springs are compressed about halfway - just about the way the originals were.
I took out the left window carrier and compared - can spot no difference.
Even with the carrier removed from the door, and without the glass, this still happens.
I have been wondering whether there is not a limit adjusting to be done or alternatively a learn function.
Will struggle some more and let you know.
I need to mention that the return seems to occur after the top has been reached. (not before the top)

Fanie

One of the window cables in my driver's door developed the infamous "crow's nest" last week. :? I was fortunate to have some cable at hand (from a garage door mechanism) and managed to replace the cables without too much of a hassle. :P

I however had the same reversing issue after re-assembly. Took me a week to get if figured out!

Anyway, here's how I got mine sorted:

> Mark the position of window at its upper limit on the slider.
> While the motor is removed bridge the terminals for a while to reset the previous limit. (Just taking the power off did not do the trick)
> Connect the motor ONLY to the power plug in the door.
> Pull the UP switch on the window controls.
> The motor will spin for a couple of revolutions and then stop by itself. Un-plug it and do not rotate the shaft.
> Make sure that the slider is at the window upper limit as marked.
> Now install the motor in the position with the least change of the shaft position.
> Plug it into the door plug again and operate the mechanism. It should now stop at the upper position and not reverse. (If it reverses - try again!
> Now install it back in the door and fasten the window glass.

It should operate normally.

I tried every "reset" and " programming" sequence I could find on the Internet but nothing worked, only the above!

Hope this helps someone.

You can get steel cable and ferrules from Builders Warehouse (1.5mm if I remember correctly).

Their ferrules are a bit too long - I just cut them shorter.

Hi guys

I had the same problem. I dont know how to copy the link on my I phone but I just copied my reply. You can find the my topic in the ELECTRONICS section.

"I fixed my window today. What a job  . Took me about 2 hours... And yes there was a nice big "crows nest" that was waiting for me. But the good news, it only costed me R30 and a trip to the bicycle shop! . I took a GEARS cable, the brake cable on bicycles are to thin, cut it to the right length and put a ferrel on the other end.... Getting the motor back into the pully with a tight cable was a mission. This is what took all the time. Needed a lot of patience and a cigarette... ;) . But its done and it works 100% now. Only thing is is that it goes down perfect. When I close it it stops, then I have to leave the switch, close it a little bit more, then it stops again and so forth till its completely closed. Think its the memory or something? It doesn't catch anywhere or make any noises anymore. So I'm sure it just needs to be resetted somehow?

Any way. What would have costed R3000 at the agents only costed me R30... :D ."

The stopping just at the top sorted itself out after a while. Dont know how bit it works perfectly still.
