I had read about this problem on the forum and a friend of mine had it happen to him as well, so I drilled mine out before the problem arose. I have found the key tends to stick a bit in modified lock but at least it works. I drilled it out very carefully after removing the locking mechanism first. With my friends car we just drilled it out by carefully going up in bit size. Just measure carefully to find the center point in the plastic cover.
