Thanks Gerrit

This feeedback, and technical advise is so appreciated.

I did a search on the Aussie website and it seems that the recall was on the early Gen 3 models (2000 to 2003)
Mines a 2006
I have also managed to get in contact with the original owner who had it up till 90k km's. She doesnt recall having any recalls but then Mitsu may have done it during a service and she would have been none the wiser.

I have since emailed Mitsu Customer Centre requesting
1. feedback on the buzzer noise.
2. Feedback on any recalls and if they have been carried out
3. A copy of all service history that they have on their records.

Lets see what comes back.

Check the black cylinder( about the size of a short fat aerosol can) in the engine bay on the firewall just in front of the driver steering. If it has a yellow dot or no paint on the top(I think but will confirm later) then it is still the old original. If it is a pink paint dot(again - I think so but will check) then you already have the recall item. Cost was around R3000 if I recall correctly if replaced outside the recall when mine was done many moons ago.

This is not to say it is your problem but if it sounds like a littlr bird chirping then it is 99% your problem.

a bit off topic.....sort off

The other day, I get this notice in the mail that there is a registered letter at the post office...this only a few days after out trip toe Bloemfontein.....starting to stress a bit...I'm not expecting anything, so it can only be a ...... nice letter from the guys sitting in the bushes on the N1.

Well, I get to the post office first thing Saturday morning, get the letter....I see the 3 diamonds and I think...wth??? Why will they send a registered letter? Did I win a new Pajero :D :D :D

Long story longer :D , it was all about this brake accumulator, according to their records my pajero hasn't been for the recall check yet, so this is just a reminder. 1670 Vehicles still need to be inspected.

Wanted to call Brooklyn to arrange for the check but I heard they closed and is a GM dealer now.

@ CATS
Just to confuse the issue, I am attaching a pic of mine. If I have the right component, its not black and the paint dot is grey !
If I start the car and stick my ear close to the accumulator I can just hear it buzzing away for a short while and then it stops, so this all sounds normal.
I must clarify that the buzzer that I am querying is definitly an in cabin audible warning buzzer and not the noise of something going about its business.

@MThompson
Glad to hear that Mitsu is still chasing the recalls. What year is your vehicle ?

I think your one is then the new one as the model year falls after the recall period in any case. If your buzzer noise is inside then it is definitely not your actual brake booster accumulator. It might still be something to do with the brake system though, but I have now dried up on ideas

Maybe take a video and post on Youtube which captures the sound as well?

Thanks CATS, I was thinking the same this morning.
Have my camera in video mode every time I start the car to try to capture the sound.

Your input much appreciated anyway, thanks.

Ja, that seems to be the right year for recalls from the info I have seen.
As a matter of interest please keep us posted on the before and after colour of the Accumulator and the paint dot on top. It may be useful for others.

Hi had the same issue on my Gen 3, I got someone to turn the ignition and managed to get the chirp, it came from a small siren behind the front bumper on the passenger side . It only chirped occasionally and to this day i have no clue what it was.i went to an alarm guy and he said it looked like original wiring, not something retrofitted.Sold it with a free chirp.
